Closure Of St Andrew’s Church, Moylegrove
In his report at the combined Easter Vestry & PCC meeting on 10th March 13, the Vicar explained that suggestions of Church closure were a response not just to financial problems but also a much depleted congregation. The village was no longer supportive of this Church and the situation was untenable. In light of these comments and with the greatest reluctance it was unanimously accepted to close the Church with immediate effect.
The Parish and graveyard are now under the care of Rev. Neil Llewlyn 01239 820 380

Copy of the letter/demand sent to St. Nicholas’ Monington from the Treasurer of St. Thomas’ St. Dogmaels.

WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY DIOCESAN OFFICE TO CALL AN EMERGENCY MEETING OF ALL THREE TREASURERS CONCERNED WITH THE CHURCHES WITHIN THE DIOCESE OF ST.DOGMAEL, ON 26/2/12 AT 6.PM IN THE VICARAGE, ST.DOGMAELS.

ALL THREE CHURCHES = ST. THOMAS'S, ST. NICHOLAS'S, AND ST. BRYNACH, ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE DIOCESANS MINISTRY QUOTA EACH YEAR. THIS YEARS TOTAL MINISTRY QUOTA HAS INCREASED BY £8.000 AND NEXT YEARS WILL PROBABLY GO UP TO £10.000. POSSIBLY MORE.
IF, £11.00.99 PER QUARTER OR £44.003.96 PER YEAR, IS NOT PAID ON TIME, THEN ALL THREE CHURCHES WILL BE FINED AN ADDITIONAL £1.000. ON TOP OF THEIR EXISTING YEARLY QUOTA'S, AND AUTOMATICALLY LOOSE THEIR OPTION OF PAYING A REBATED AMOUNT.

FROM APPROXIMATELY 1997 TO 2011, ST. THOMAS'S HAS PAID THE ENTIRE MINISTRY QUOTA EACH YEAR. AFTER PAYING OUR OWN PERCENTAGE, THE DIFFERENCE OF £100.000 HAS BEEN PAID BY ST. THOMAS'S, ON BEHALF OF MONINGTON AND MOYLEGROVE.
ST THOMAS'S CHURCH IS NOW FINANICALLY UNABLE TO CONTINUE DOING THIS.

THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO SWAP MOYLEGROVE AND MELINA, FOR ST. BRYNACH CHURCH, NEVERN. BOTH ST.THOMAS'S AND ST. BRYNACH CHURCHES ARE ABLE TO PAY THEIR YEARLY QUOTA'S. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS MEANS THAT ST. NICHOLAS'S WILL HAVE TO DO THE SAME.
(SIX SERVICES A YEAR AND A SMALL CONGREGATION ARE NOT VALID EXCUSES).

THE THREE CHURCHES ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CLERICAL EXPENSES OF OUR INCUMBENT, THE REVEREND ALED THOMAS. THIS WORKS OUT EACH MONTH TO AROUND £500.

BOTH ST. THOMAS'S AND ST. BRYNACH CHURCHES HAVE ALREADY BEEN SHARING THIS AMOUNT EACH MONTH. TO DATE, NOTHING HAS BEEN RECEIVED FROM ST. NICHOLAS'S CHURCH. A PROPOSAL OF A ONE OFF PAYMENT FOR THE YEAR OF = £100 FOR ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH.
AS ST THOMAS'S AND ST. BRYNACH CHURCHES ARE ABLE TO PAY THEIR SHARE OF THE MINISTRY QUOTA. THIS MEANS THAT ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH WILL HAVE TO PAY EITHER A YEARLY SUM OF £5.377.29 OR FOUR QUARTERLY PAYMENTS OF £1.344.33.

BY PAYING THE YEARLY AMOUNT ST. NICHOLAS'S CHURCH WILL THEN HAVE 15 MONTHS TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO, EITHER CLOSE OR STAY OPEN.
LOOKING AT ST. NICHOLAS'S 2010 YEARLY ACCOUNTS THERE IS ENCOUGH MONEY FOR BOTH OF THESE EXPENSES (MINISTRY QUOTA AND CLERICAL EXPENSES) TO BE PAID. THEIR ONLY EXPENSES ARE INSURANCE AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE.

A PAYMENT NEEDS TO BE SENT TO THE DIOCESAN OFFICE, IN CARMARTHEN BY THE 1/3/12, (IN 3 DAYS TIME}.
ST. NICHOLAS CHURCH

CURRENT ACCOUNT £3.918.86. RESERVE ACCOUNT £3.739.89. CHURCHYARD ACCOUNT

A TOTAL OF £5377.29 (QUOTA) PLUS £100 (CLERICAL EXPENSES! = £5.477.29.
THE CELRICAL EXPENSES WILL HAVE TO BE PAID TO ST. THOMAS'S CHURCH, ST.
